The Grey Heron was one of the first birds I photographed in Fleetwood on a boating lake.

It took time out to preen and chill.

Only having the camera a week, I wasn’t expecting the Image quality to be so good and to be able to crop like I did, the A7r4 was a pleasant surprise.

I had come from a 1.6 crop sensor to then micro four thirds x2 magnification.

So I found it a bit daunting with my first full frame camera, losing the reach I was used to.

The images are just cropped. I will put them in order so you can see by the last image how close I got from the bank of the lake. I would estimate I was about 50 metres away.
